Upernavik Cruise Port, Greenland

Upernavik Cruise Port Greenland

The port of Upernavik is located on an island of the same name on the east coast of Greenland. Founded in 1772, Upernavik is one of Greenland’s oldest settlements. The Upernavik Museum is a highlight, showcasing Inuit artifacts, traditional tools, and insight into the history of the area. The pretty, colourful buildings are very representative of the villages on the Greenland coast. Originally, the colours were linked to the function of the building: red for the shops, yellow for the health services, black for the police station, blue for the fishing industries, etc.
