St. John's (Newfoundland), Canada

St. John's (Newfoundland)
Canada

The Port of St. John’s is located on the Atlantic coast in southeastern Newfoundland. St. John’s is the most populous city and capital of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is the easternmost city in Canada.

For a long time, European fishermen had been in the St. John’s area and drying their catches. It was here, on Signal Hill, that Marconi received the first telegraph transmission across the Atlantic in 1901.

Homes in central St. John’s are traditionally painted with bright colors, making it a popular photo stop.
