St. George's
Grenada

The port of St George is located in the south of the island of Grenada. Grenada alternated between French and British territory. Grenada gained sovereignty in 1974. The army that sympathized with the Russians took power in 1983. The United States and Caribbean allies invaded the island to drive the army and communists out of power.

The spice industry is important in Grenada. Nutmeg is mainly grown here.
