Shanghai is located on the Huangpu River. On the one side, the Bund was once the main artery of the foreign concession after the end of the Opium Wars. You will find American, English and French influences in different parts of the city.

On the other side, in the business district, you can see the very modern skyscrapers such as the Pearl of Asia, the Shanghai World Financial Center as well as the Shanghai Tower, the second tallest tower in the world. Shanghai is one of China’s main economic centers and a gateway to international trade.

Where is located the Port of Shanghai Cruise Terminal

Small and medium-sized ships will dock at Shanghai Cruise Terminal, in the heart of the city. The building is very modern and is located near the Bund. You will also have a perspective on the modern towers of Shanghai.

The largest ships will dock at Wusongkou Cruise Terminal, located about 25 km from the city. Free shuttles take you to the metro station.

Some ships can also dock in the industrial port of Waigaoqiao, located about 25 km from the city.

Travelling around the Shanghai Cruise Port

Transportation between shanghai airport and cruise port

Shanghai Pudong Airport (PVG) is located about 45 km from the center of Shanghai and its cruise terminal. The drive takes about an hour.

Metro Line 2 connects the airport to the center of Shanghai in just over 2 hours. The Maglev high speed train reaches Longyang Rd. Station in 8 minutes.

Wusongkou Cruise Terminal is about 50 km from the airport. The drive takes about an hour.

Waigaoqiao Industrial Port is 35 km from the airport and the journey takes about 45 minutes.

PVG
The Shanghai Metro is an efficient and fast way to get around the city.
Taxis are inexpensive, but make sure you have your destination written in Chinese as the drivers don’t speak English.

Neighborhoods

The Bund

On the west bank of the Huangpu River is a series of colonial-style buildings that were part of the International Concession. The Shanghai International Concession was formed in the mid-1800s and was dissolved during World War II as a result of the Japanese occupation.

Pudong

Located opposite the Bund on the other side of the Huangpu River, this is the commercial district of Shanghai where the main skyscrapers of the city are located. A walkway runs along the river.

This museum of modern art has more than 1,400 works of art. The inverted pyramid-shaped building is impressive.
