The port of Riga is located in the Gulf of Riga, on the Baltic Sea, at the mouth of the Daugava River. The historic center of the city of Riga, the largest city in Latvia, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The art nouveau architecture found in the city is one of the finest examples in Europe. The city played an important role in trade in Viking times. It is now one of the cultural capitals of Europe.

Freedom Monument
This monument dating from 1935 was entirely financed by public donations. The statue at the top holds three leaves representing the three historical regions of Latvia.
Three Brothers
This three-house housing complex dates from the 15th century. The name of the complex originates from a legend that three brothers built these houses.
Riga Castle
The seat of the Presidency of Latvia, this medieval castle, having its origins in the 14th century, can only be visited virtually. It has been the residence of the President of Latvia since 1922.

Latvian National Museum of Art

Riga Art Nouveau Centre
This museum dedicated to Art Nouveau presents interactive exhibitions as well as rooms furnished and decorated in the Art Nouveau style. The house was built in 1903.
Ethnographic Open-Air Museum
This open-air museum features 118 traditional buildings from different eras, from several regions of Latvia. It presents exhibitions on the lives of the inhabitants between the 17th century and the 1930s.

More than 100 vehicles from different eras and different parts of the world are on display in this automotive museum.
National History Museum of Latvia
