Marigot
Saint-Martin

The *port of Marigot in Saint Martin is frequented by smaller ships. Marigot has several bistros, cafes and breweries and luxury boutiques. The largest ships dock at Philipsburg on the Dutch side of the island.

This island is divided in two, Saint Martin belonging to France and Sint Maarten belonging to the Netherlands. Legend has it that the border was decided following a bet between a Frenchman and a Dutchman. The two men are said to have walked along the coast in the opposite direction until they met on the other side of the island to determine the border.

The island has a total population of 77,000 inhabitants.
