Liverpool, the English city where the Beatles were born, was originally a very important trading port. While air transport did not exist, the port of Liverpool was a hub for transporting passengers to the Americas and around the world. The area around the port is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Mersey ferries
These historic Liverpool boats sail between the city and the opposite bank. Between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., the boat headed down the Mersey from the old docks, then crossed the river, stopping at Seacombe (Wallers) for the aquarium and a riverside walk; New Brighton, a former seaside resort; and Woodside (Birkenhead) for the city’s Heritage Trail.
