Walking to Hilo takes about an hour and there is no sidewalk. A free shuttle bus from the Hilo Hattie store takes you from the port to the centre of the city and allows you to do some shopping.
If you have rented a car, a shuttle will take you to the airport where you can take possession of the car.

Pacific Tsunami Museum
The Tsunami Museum recounts the various Tsunamis that affected this city and the Pacific.
Lyman Museum and Mission House
A museum affiliated with the Smithsonian. This is the home, Georgian style, of missionaries from New England. This house is the oldest wooden building built on the island. You will find furniture and objects from the period (1830).
Nature
Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park
These volcanoes are very impressive. You can take a bus tour, rent a car or take a helicopter tour. You can hike in the crater of one of the volcanoes.
