Cozumel, Mexico

Cozumel Mexico

The Cozumel cruise port is located on Cozumel Island that is part of Mexico and lies off the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula. It is known for fishing, diving and water sports. This destination became popular in the 1960s after Jacques Cousteau mentioned in a documentary that the place was the most beautiful place in the world for snorkeling.

Although the port of Cozumel hosts, on some days, up to 8 ships, only a third of the island has been developed and tropical forests and golden beaches have been preserved. According to legend, Cozumel was inhabited by Ixchel, the goddess of love and fertility. Several Mayan sites are located on the island. On the other hand, the larger and better preserved sites of Chichén Itza and Tulum are located on the Mexican mainland.
