The port of Costa Maya in Mexico was built solely to accommodate cruise ships in 2001. Since then, several tourist facilities have been set up there. There are swimming pools, restaurants, bars, a beach club and shops.

The U.S. dollar is generally accepted. Flea market vendors only accept cash.

Where is locate the Port of Costa Maya

The port is directly in the centre of the tourist complex. As the pier is long, a free shuttle can take you to shore.

Search Excursions

This Maya town dating back to 350 BC is located about an hour from the port. This Mayan ruin is right in the middle of the jungle. You can also climb the steep stairs of one of the ruins. Climbing is quite an adventure, but going down can make you dizzy.

Search Excursions

This Mayan site houses the mask depicting Kinich Ahau, the king of the sun. It is possible to walk on the structures and see the rooms of these old buildings.

An adventure park that offers activities such as water slides, zip lines and swimming pools.

Beaches

Mahahual

Mahahual is a former fishing village located 30 minutes to magpies (along a boardwalk) or a 5 minute taxi ride. There are several Beach Clubs. The beach is quiet and ideal for water sports.

  • The resort has several swimming pools and a small beach with sun loungers. There are also shops and restaurants and bars.
  • Several excursions of all-terrain vehicles, dune buggy and Jeep are possible.
  • Scuba diving is offered to amateurs and more experienced people.
  • Glass-bottomed catamaran or boat trips are combined with snorkelling.
