The port of Cienfuegos is located on the south coast of Cuba. It is mainly an industrial city. Its architecture was influenced by the French who settled there. This city is newer and cleaner, which is why it is nicknamed the pearl of Cuba. You can admire its neoclassical architecture on the great Plaza de Armas square and on the pedestrian streets where souvenir kiosks and restaurants abound.
If your stopover allows you, a visit to Trinidad is a must. Along the way, you’ll see the Cuban countryside and the Sierra del Escambray mountains.
Some cruise lines make a two-day stopover in Cienfuegos, but do not stop in Havana. They offer excursions to visit Havana.
