The port of Catania is located on the northeast coast of Sicily in Italy. Catania, the capital of the province of the same name, is located near the volcano of Mount Etna which is still active. The city lives under a constant threat of volcanic eruption. In 1693, the city was completely destroyed by an earthquake. The city was later rebuilt with volcanic stone.
