Alesund is a pretty town that was rebuilt after the fire of 1904 in an art nouveau architectural style. It is considered by Norwegians to be one of the most beautiful cities in Norway. This town is an important fishing port.

Where is locate the Port of Alesund

The port of Alesund is located in the heart of the city. A tourist information kiosk is located on the pier where you can grab a map of the city. It is also the starting point for buses and small tourist trains. Tickets can be purchased at kiosks near the wharf.

Wi-fi is available for free at the main tourist information centre on the other side of the city.

Travelling around the port of Alesund

The city is easily visited on foot. The souvenir shops are located on a pedestrian street in the centre of the city.

Scandinavia’s largest saltwater aquarium. A shuttle bus connects the port to the aquarium every 30 minutes (10-minute journey). Tickets can be purchased at the port.

Fjellstua

Climb the 418 steps to the Fjellstua viewpoint at the top of the hill. A cafeteria is located in the building at the top. Tourist buses make a stop there.
