Viking, the award-winning cruise line known for its cultural river journeys across Europe and beyond, is setting its sights on a bold new destination: India. Beginning in late 2027, Viking will introduce its first-ever river cruises in India aboard a purpose-built vessel, the Viking Brahmaputra. This new itinerary offers an immersive 15-day experience that combines an eight-day cruise along the Brahmaputra River with guided land exploration in Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur.

Discover India the Viking Way

The new itinerary, titled Wonders of India, offers a unique blend of iconic landmarks and lesser-known cultural gems. Guests will begin and end the journey in Delhi, with overnight stays in Agra and Jaipur along the way, creating a comprehensive introduction to the famed Golden Triangle. Highlights include a visit to the legendary Taj Mahal, a guided stroll through Old Delhi’s bustling alleys, and a chance to admire the intricate architecture of Jaipur’s Palace of Winds.

On the river portion of the journey, guests will explore northeastern India from a fresh perspective. The Brahmaputra cruise will travel between Guwahati and Nimati Ghat in Assam, unveiling a landscape rich in history, wildlife, and spiritual tradition. Guests will visit the temple of Guwahati, interact with riverside villages, and explore Majuli—one of the largest river islands in the world. A standout moment: a visit to Kaziranga National Park, home to the rare one-horned rhinoceros and wild buffalo.

Introducing the Viking Brahmaputra

Currently under construction, the Viking Brahmaputra has been carefully designed to navigate the distinctive waterways of northeastern India. Accommodating just 80 guests in 40 outside staterooms, the ship will feature Viking’s signature Scandinavian design, with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors and private verandas in every cabin.

Guests will enjoy the comforts of a Spa & Fitness Center, and the ship’s Upper Deck Sky Bar offers open-air views of the region’s lush landscapes and riverside life. With its intimate scale and thoughtful layout, the vessel promises a serene and enriching onboard experience that reflects Viking’s modern approach to river cruising.

Pre and Post Extensions for Deeper Exploration

To enhance the journey, Viking is offering several fully guided pre- and post-cruise land extensions. Options include two nights in Delhi, three nights in Dubai, four nights in Kathmandu, and five nights across Cochin and Mumbai. These packages are designed to provide guests with deeper insights into the region’s diverse cultures and histories.

Reservations are now open for Wonders of India, and Viking is offering limited-time incentives for North American travelers.
