The official christening of the MSC World America, the latest flagship of the MSC Cruises company, took place in Miami. The ship’s inauguration ceremony marks the beginning of a new chapter in the world of North American cruises. Drew Barrymore is the Godmother of MSC World America.
MSC World America is not a ship like any other. With its futuristic lines and cutting-edge innovations, it embodies a new era of cruising, combining MSC’s signature European elegance with distinctly American comfort. It is also the very first ship of the World class to be based in the United States, an important step for the company as it strengthens its foothold in North America.
The inauguration ceremony held in the brand new MSC cruise terminal in Miami – an architectural feat designed by Arquitectonica and designed by Fincantieri Infrastructure – brought together a host of personalities, distinguished guests and sea enthusiasts. The terminal, which already stands out as the largest and most advanced in the world, is now the scene of a doubly historic inauguration.
After the traditional blessing of the ship and the ribbon cutting, the festivities continue on board with a two-night maiden cruise to the company’s private island: Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. An idyllic foretaste of what awaits the ship’s future passengers.
On 12 April, MSC World America will begin its first cruise season from Miami, offering seven-night itineraries to the Eastern and Western Caribbean.
Eastern Caribbean: Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Ocean Cay
Western Caribbean: Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico; Roatan, Honduras; Ocean Cay
Designed to offer an unparalleled cruising experience, MSC World America combines innovative design, world-class entertainment, diverse gastronomy and a strong commitment to sustainability. All this in a spectacular environment that redefines industry standards.
