Carnival Cruise Line is set to make waves in Australia with its ambitious expansion plans. From March 2025, the cruise line will expand its fleet to four ships, promising twice the fun for Australian travellers. The move is part of P&O Cruises Australia’s plan to integrate its business. Two former P&O ships will join Carnival’s fleet and be renamed Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter.

A blend of familiar and new experiences

The integration of Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter into Carnival’s fleet aims to merge the best of both cruise lines. While guests can look forward to Carnival’s signature ‘Fun Ship’ experience, they will also enjoy P&O’s beloved features such as the exclusive Byron Beach Club hideaway, the Edge Adventure Park and popular restaurants such as Angelo’s and Dragon Lady. Fans of P&O’s entertainment offerings, including the Blanc de Blanc show, will be delighted to see them retained on board.

Exciting new attractions

Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter will feature a range of new attractions, with something for everyone:

  • Fun Squad Entertainment: Carnival’s renowned Fun Squad will offer lively activities ranging from comedy shows and quizzes to deck parties and games, creating a dynamic atmosphere for guests of all ages.
  • Turtles Kids Club: A dedicated childcare programme for children under two, with activities including crafts, story time, dance and sensory play under the supervision of a professional.
  • Free Daily Pizza: Guests can enjoy unlimited pizza, served daily between 11am and 4pm.
  • Carnival Highlights: Activities such as Build-A-Bear workshops, Conga for Kids dance party and 80s Rock and Glow parties will debut on these ships, adding to the fun.

Commitment to year-round cruising

Once rebranded, Carnival Adventure will sail year-round from Sydney, joining sister ship Carnival Splendor. Carnival Encounter will be based in Brisbane, sharing the port with Carnival Luminosa during the summer season. This expansion positions Carnival as the leading cruise line for travelers seeking year-round Australian sea holiday adventures.

Ready for transformation

The transition from Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter to Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter will involve a two-week dry dock in March 2025. The rebranded ships will then embark on their new voyages, blending P&O’s cherished traditions with Carnival’s signature style.
