Carnival Cruise Line has announced various ship redeployments from the Costa fleet to the Carnival fleet.

The Costa Luminosa becomes the Carnival Luminosa

First, Carnival acquired the Costa Luminosa which will become the Carnival Luminosa in November 2022. The ship will be positioned in Brisbane for cruises in Australia between October and April and in Seattle for cruises in Alaska between May and September.

This ship is part of the Spirit class, well known to Carnival enthusiasts. Some renovations will be carried out, but, in the short term, the ship will not have all the “fuship 2.0” spaces common to the other ships in the fleet.

Costa by Carnival

Carnival also announced a partnership with Costa through which Carnival will operate the ships Costa Venezia and Costa Firenze in America. The Costa Venezia will be positioned in New York in spring 2023 while the Costa Firenze will join the fleet in spring 2024 for cruises from Long Beach.

Both are Vista-class ships and will be operated by Carnival employees. They will offer the same menus and the same quality of entertainment that Carnival customers are used to, but in an Italian-style setting.
